Meet the vChief Interns

This has been an exciting summer here at vChief as we’ve taken on a new opportunity: internships. With a values system that includes servant leadership and helping the broader community to thrive, plus continued growth over this past year, bringing on interns for the summer was a winning decision.

All of our interns will be working in our marketing and business development team, assisting on projects such as:

  • Research

  • Prospecting new leads

  • Tracking communications

  • Analyzing marketing data

Please take a moment to learn more about these wonderful new additions to the vChief team.

Shakil Delowar

Prior to his internship with vChief, Shakil worked as a marketing intern at Chrono Group, where he set up and managed ads for clients and even designed social media creatives for small to medium enterprises. Around the same time, Shakil was at Project Snapshot as a Platform Coordinator, where he planned and led the design of over 50 organic posts for social media. He also managed the page to promote educational fellowship offerings (i.e. R&D, mentorship, and ambassador programs).

Shakil is currently at Baruch College finishing up his BBA in Marketing Management - Analytics and has received an AA degree in Liberal Arts - English Literature from Bard College. Shakil resides in Manhattan and enjoys playing sports and exploring food places in his free time.

Fernando Valadez-Nunez

Prior to joining vChief, Fernando was an intern in External Affairs Strategy & Operations with

Braven in which he managed a bi-weekly newsletter catering to over 2,000+ fellows, researched employer partners for the CEO, and referred fellows to employer partners’ job opportunities.

Fernando also works as a Starbucks barista, a position he has held for the past two and a half years and enjoys as he gets to nurture the human spirit, one cup at a time. Fernando is striving to finalize his degree later this year in a Bachelor of Arts in Business Computer and Information Systems from National Louis University. He currently resides in Sherman Oaks, Cal., where he enjoys hikes in the hills and soaks in the sunset by the coast.

Leslie Vargas

As a 4th degree black belt in Taekwondo, Leslie has incorporated discipline, integrity, and leadership in and out of the martial arts studio. As a program director, she has experience in sales, account management, and operations. Leslie is passionate about helping others achieve their goals using the best, most effective method.

While martial arts has been in her life for over 18 years, she found her true passion at Rutgers Business School by discovering the world of business and management. Leslie is a Post- Accelerator Fellow of Braven Leadership and Career accelerator. She is continuing her path to a bachelor's degree in management with a concentration in both leadership and sales.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Leslie is fluent in both English and Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys continuing her martial arts training, hiking, traveling, and trying new restaurants.

Thank You, Clients

We’d like to take this opportunity to mention that all of our interns have past connections to vChief clients, specifically Braven and Basta.

Shakil came to us through Basta, an organization whose mission is to “create a bridge of opportunity between employers and first-generation college goers of color to increase knowledge workforce diversity at all levels.” We are fully behind this mission, and look forward to having Shakil on our team this summer.

Fernando and Leslie have had past experiences with Braven, our very first client. Braven has a similar mission to Basta. In a spotlight post, Braven Founder and CEO Aimée Eubanks Davis stated: “By coaching our students in career readiness and leadership skills and connecting them with mission-aligned anchor employers, we strive to close the gap between rising college enrollment rates and growing recent-graduate un- and underemployment rates.” We’re proud to continue to partner with Braven and bring Leslie and Fernando onto our team this summer.
