Demetria Murphy worked for a decade towards building the conditions, networks, and resources for children of color to be critically conscious change agents shaping the world as it ought to be, just and free. A teacher, coach, and systems leader, Demetria taught and learned from children in Houston, Texas, coached teachers, aspiring school and policy leaders, and non-profit practitioners in Las Vegas, and cultivated strong networks of collaboration and impact nationwide. Demetria served as a policy advisor to Nevada State Board of Education Victor Wakefield and consulted on affordable housing policy for Louisiana Representative Walt Leger III. In her most recent role, she co-authored a robust educational ecosystem analysis of Las Vegas and Nevada and clear 8 year direction towards ensuring students of color and low-income students have an opportunity to attain an equitable and excellent education. This plan was based on surveys and focus groups of hundreds of students, family members, teachers, school leaders, and community members over six months centered on definitions and levers of success for a child growing to age 25 in our community. Additionally, she led large scale internal strategic planning, manager development, change management, diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy and development, human assets, finance, and operations in the social impact space.
