Katy has dedicated her career to increasing educational opportunities for students, having worked in the public and private sector, nationally and internationally. Currently, Katy serves as the Director of Organizational Effectiveness in the Superintendent’s Office at the DeKalb County School District (DCSD). In this role, Katy liaises between division leadership and stakeholders to understand needs and opportunities for district improvement. Within six months, Katy brought teams together to increase transparent access to data and launched District Data Dashboards which offer public access to 15 Data Dashboards in functional areas from Finance, Operations, Academics, and Culture and Climate. Prior to joining DCSD, Katy served as the Managing Director to the Chief Strategy Officer in the Division of the First Deputy Chancellor at New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE). There, she worked to build coherence within and across teams and priority projects in a fast-paced environment to advance
equitable outcomes. Throughout her tenure at the NYCDOE, Katy held various roles that were primarily focused on understanding needs, connecting key stakeholders, and executing vision in the world of education. Katy was responsible for the organization’s five-year strategic technology plan; launching new tools and processes to support and bring coherence to the way educators and
administrators used data; and formed partnerships with industry leaders to raise over $100M for technological devices, wifi access, and professional development.

 

Prior to joining the Department of Education, Katy was a Director of Educational Partnerships for Kaplan K12 Learning Services and a Center Director for SCORE! Educational Centers. Katy also spent a year as a teacher and curriculum designer in Zhe Jiang Province, China.

 

Katy holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the

State University of New York at Purchase College, and a master’s degree in Urban Affairs from the City University of New York at Hunter College. She lives in metro Atlanta with her wife and two children.
