Melissa has over 20 years of operations and strategy experience in both a nonprofit and corporate environment and is passionate about designing strong operations that build organizations’ momentum. In her 13 years of nonprofit management experience, Melissa brings both breadth and depth of experience to her projects across multiple operational fields including finance, procurement, contract management, human resources, knowledge management, board governance, strategic planning, risk management, and compliance. As Chief of Staff to the Chief Finance and Administrative Officer of Teach For America, she facilitated team operations and culture, such as strategic planning, risk assessment, and team conferences, while also diving into special projects such as federal grant audit oversight. Her other leadership roles at Teach For America included the Senior Managing Director of Policy and Compliance, and Senior Director of Finance and Technology for the National Institute Operations teams.
Prior to Teach For America, Melissa began her career with the Trust and Investment team at Wachovia Bank, before transitioning to technology operations with Qwest Communications. Melissa holds an MBA from Cornell University and a BS from Boston University’s College of Communications. She currently lives in Georgia where she also serves as the founding Chair of the Board of Directors for Ethos Classical Charter School, a tuition-free public elementary school serving the families of Southwest Atlanta.
