Naressa is known amongst her colleagues, family, and friends for her commitment and efforts to create a more just and equitable world. That unwavering promise and experience working alongside communities, families, teachers, leaders, policymakers, and a broad range of diverse stakeholders to advance educational excellence, economic empowerment, criminal justice reform, housing affordability, healthcare access, and collective equity in Black and other under-resourced communities has been her life’s work.  

 

Naressa brings a breadth of experience from the corporate, government, and non-profit sectors in the areas of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI), Talent, Strategy, Operations, and Six Sigma.  As a Strategy & Equity Consultant, she most recently co-led research to inform efforts championing critical racial policies and practices for the New York Urban League and the Commit to C.A.R.E. (Care About Racial Equity) Now campaign, a joint effort of Unilever and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA). Before that work, Naressa was the Director of Talent Strategy for KIPP New Orleans Schools where she ensured alignment of talent policies, strategies, systems, and supports to drive equity and retention of effective teachers and leaders across and within all schools. She also led efforts to expand and improve talent pipeline and management, leadership development, career pathways programs such as the teacher residency, and other strategic talent initiatives. 

 

Naressa holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. from Purdue University, M.A.T. from Relay Graduate School of Education, M.Ed. from The Broad Center, and a B.S. from Alabama A&M University. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and currently serves on the boards of the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice and Spottswood Community Development Corporation
